NawLaw successfully filed a writ of certiorari to the U.S. Supreme Court in the seminal case of Vartelas v. Holder,  566 U.S. 257 (2012), an opinion by Justice Ginsburg on March 28, 2012, which held that the enforcement of a provision of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 was applied retroactively to Panagis Vartelas, a Greek national and lawful permanent resident of the United States, and was thus unconstitutional.
